Make A Wave
MAKE-A-WAVE BY PARTICIPATING IN BEACH CLEAN-UPS AND CREATING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS THAT LEADS TO PROACTIVENESS.
1Odysea volunteers will be at the heart of fostering cooperation among local communities to unite for a clean ocean.
We encourage our Leaders to start by learning more about the different ways they can provide support. You can become an active member on the frontline of the movement to improve our ocean and our world. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn valuable social skills while taking part in fun and educationally focused shoreline clean-ups.
Make-A-Wave is a new organization built on love, education, dedication, and determination to keep Earth clean and understood. We strive to create unity across the world to focus on our ocean and its ability to sustain itself for future generations. To start, we plan to show gratitude to our planet by implementing a new initiative known as the Clear Vision for a Clean Planet.
We encourage you to join our movement as we grow and learn from each other and the world around us and we’re eager to create a reality that signifies unity. We hope to help others create a world that teaches with compassion and understanding, and leads with a humbled heart.
Our Clean Planet Initiative - “Clear Vision for a Clean Planet”
As part of 1ODYSEA’s Clear Vision for a Clean Planet (Clean Planet Initiative), the Make-A-Wave Coastal Clean-Up has been created to fight against the vast amount of pollution along our shores today. Make-A-Wave will be focused on promoting volunteerism through local communities and our Future Leaders Volunteer Program. These volunteers will have the opportunity to learn valuable social skills while taking part in fun and educationally focused shoreline clean-ups. We also hope to establish and grow the Make-A-Wave Scholarship Fund, which will provide scholarships for students following a particular educational course.
Each of the Regional Make-A-Wave events each year will be focused on gathering local communities to clean up beaches and coastal shorelines “Growing the Wave” into a National Program. 1ODYSEA will coordinate with local schools, businesses, governments, and communities to get volunteers to critical areas where we will work to make a difference in our marine ecosystem.

1ODYSEA will also establish a Make-A-Wave Beautification Fund, from which money will be reinvested into beautifying the beaches and coastlines with conservation in mind. Items such as bicycle racks, pump stations, recycling, and garbage receptacles, solar-powered bus stops, etc, will be funded by 1ODYSEA.
We are a volunteer organization and are currently building our mission and brand through the grassroots efforts of our Key Volunteers. Because of this project’s focus on education, Make-A-Wave Coastal Clean-ups will be sponsor and donation driven, and promotional items will be available at Make-A-Wave events for free or sold at cost.
Make-A-Wave: Coastal Clean-Ups
Thousands of tons of trash are dumped into the ocean daily. Even though much of the trash is dumped, and released hundreds of miles offshore, garbage like plastic and aluminum can wash up on beaches and coastal areas, where it pollutes, harms local marine life and affects the local tourism industries.
Plastic is the most common pollutant that is found in the ocean. It is harmful because it doesn’t break down easily and is often considered food by marine animals. Plastic debris can absorb toxic chemicals from ocean pollution, poisoning whatever eats it.
There are over 230,000 different species of marine life that populate the world’s oceans with an estimated 2000 threatened and endangered species. This is the result of over commercial fishing, CO2 emissions, mining, dumping, coastal development, pollution, and trash. These things inhibit the ocean’s ability to provide food and maintain habitats, which affects the food chain. 90% of coral reefs will die by 2050 if we don’t take action now!
Our Clear Vision for a Clean Planet, created the Make-A-Wave Coastal Clean-up Program to Raise Awareness, Unify Communities, and Activate Students, as well as fund Educational Scholarships and Programs.
